ABOUT INEC Ad-Hoc Staff

During elections in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) hires temporary workers called Ad-Hoc Staff to help things run smoothly.

Ad-Hoc Staff have different roles during elections. Some manage polling units, others operate voting stations, some assist managers, some handle voter verification technology, and others supervise registration areas.

To become an Ad-Hoc Staff for INEC, you must meet specific requirements. You need to be a registered voter in Nigeria, live in the state where you want to work, and have the required education for the job you are applying for.

To apply for these temporary positions, eligible Nigerians use a website called INECPRES. This site allows you to register and apply for available jobs.

It’s important to note that INEC does not always hire Ad-Hoc Staff. They open the INECPRES site only when elections are approaching. To stay informed about these opportunities, you can check INEC’s official website or their social media pages.

POSITIONS

The positions available for ad-hoc staff at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) encompass a range of roles essential for the smooth functioning of electoral processes.

• Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO)
• Registration Area Center (RAC) Manager
• Presiding Officer (PO)
• Assistant Presiding Officer (APO)
• Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH)

ELIGIBILITY

Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO):

• Public/Civil Servant on Grade Level 10-14
• OR Registration Area Officers/INEC staff on Grade Level 10-14, not engaged in other duties.

Registration Area Center (RAC) Manager:

• Head of School or staff (Grade Level 07 and above) of the school/institution/public building hosting the RAC.

Presiding Officer (PO) / Assistant Presiding Officer (APO):

• Serving Corps member
• OR Penultimate student of a Federal/State tertiary institution in Nigeria with IT knowledge
• OR Permanent staff of an MDA with OND qualification or on Grade Level 07-10
• OR INEC permanent staff on Grade Level 07 & 08
• OR Former corps member (not later than 2021).

Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH):

• IT background
• Suitable INEC ICT Staff (State & HQ) not engaged in other duties
• Not a political party member
• Not supported any candidate or party
• Resides in the selected STATE, except RATECHs.

DOCUMENT REQUIRED

Required Documents

• Working mobile phone number
• Personal bank account number
• Recent passport photo with a white background, not larger than 5MB
• Contact details (email and phone number) of two referees
• Staff ID No./Student ID No. (as shown on your ID card)
• NYSC Callup Number (if a former corps member from 2018 or later, or for current corps members in 2022)
• Copy of highest qualification in .pdf format
• Copy of means of identification in .jpg or .jpeg format

HOW TO APPLY

Click “Register” : Follow the on-screen instructions to start your registration.

Create Your Password : Set a password to log in to the portal and access the application form.

Fill the Application Form : Complete the form with Personal Information, Contact Information, and Bank Details. Ensure accuracy as you cannot edit details after submission.

Upload Your Passport Photograph : Upload a recent passport photo with a plain background, no larger than 5MB.

Enter Referee Details : Provide contact details for two referees.

Check the Attestation Box : Confirm that your information will be verified by your institutions or referees.

Submit the Application : Click the submit button to send your application.

Print Your Acknowledgement Slip : Print this slip for final verification. It is required.
